Henderson day spa gets the kinks out without damage

Yost Studios hairstylists now certified in breakthrough Brazilian hair straightening treatment

Henderson, NV- For many born with curly hair, it's not exactly perceived as a physical asset. They spend countless hours stabilizing those tangled locks, using products that, in turn, damage hair.

Henderson-based Yost Studios Salon & Spa is now providing an alternative to previous methods, one that promises to get the kinks out without destroying hair in the process.

Last month, many of the day spa's hairstylists became certified in the Marcia Teixeira Brazilian Keratin Treatment straightening method, a breakthrough that makes straight hair a reality for all hair types, minus the negative side effects.

Mickey Yost, owner of Yost Studios, had his stylists certified after researching the product. The manufacturer requires that stylists become certified so as to guarantee results, and Yost Studios is just the second in the valley sanctioned to use the revolutionary product.

"It was something new we read about in the Wall Street Journal, and once we found out that it didn't damage the sulfur bonds of the hair, we decided to go with it," said Yost, who opened his spa in it's new location in January. "This does no damage at all. There's no growing out problems, like with a bad perm."

The main ingredient in the treatment, keratin, is a protein that comprises 89% of human hair. It acts as the main protective substance in hair, skin and nails, but until now it has been difficult to extract without sacrificing potency. The keratin in the Brazilian Keratin Treatment is derived from pure wool harvested from New Zealand sheep that are free of harmful chemicals. The result is a unique ingredient that blends with hair, nourishing it from the inside out.

Treatments performed at Yost Studios range from $350-$450, and each application lasts approximately 3 months. On behalf of his curly haired clients who have undergone the treatment, Yost says they can no longer live without it. "This product results in 3 months of headache free hair, and saves them an hour a day fixing their hair." Yost said. "That's an hour a day they can apply to work, play, or time with their kids. And, they aren't frustrated every morning."
